Connections

Connections are so important. Human beings do not do well when we have don’t have any. Now, we all need different types and different amounts of connections. You may be someone who needs to be surrounded by many people who all are talking and having plans to gather all the time. Or you may be someone who prefers one good friend that you meet with occasionally. It really does not matter. What does matter is that you do have connections with someone.

Do you know what your preference is? Are you more energized and feel better when you are being very social, or when you are talking with someone one on one? Do you enjoy your life more when you have many social events on your calendar? Or do you begin to feel stressed if there is not a whole lot of empty space on upcoming days?

The next thing to be aware of is what level of connection works for you. Are you happiest with chit chat? Or are you happiest when you get to have an hours long conversation dealing with deep subjects? Or a bit of both?

Again, there is no right way to have connections. The important thing is that you have them! One of the reasons that the pandemic was so difficult for many was the lack of connection. Virtual may work for you. It also may not. So, make sure that you are getting the type and quality of connections that you need! It makes a difference!
