How To Make a Bad Day Into a Good One

When we have a bad day, we often stop to examine why it is bad, what is going on that we do not feel good. However, when we are feeling good, we rarely stop and check in about why we are happy!

This is an important thing to know. What creates those feelings of happiness or contentment or joy or peace within us? The next time that you are in a good place, stop. Notice what was happening just before you noticed that feeling. Notice the environment that you are in. Notice the thoughts in your head. Notice all of your senses: what are you seeing, tasting touching, hearing, smelling? Are you aware of any memories coming up?

These are important to notice. These are the things that create the feelings of happiness or contentment or joy or peace! Once we know what they are, then we can re-create them when we are having bad days. For instance, if you are feeling the most content when you are sitting on your couch, reading, and petting a puppy, then on a day where you are feeling unsettled, unhappy, not at peace, stop what you are doing. Grab a good book and your dog, find a couch, and give yourself what you are needing.

We can change our mood if we know what it is we need! Keep a list of those positive things, then put them into action as needed!
