Take a Risk!

What have you done lately? Anything new? Anything different? Anything that made you smile? And if not, why not?!

We often do the same thing all the time. We drive the same way to work. We order the same thing. We watch the same tv shows. We go to the same place for vacation. We do so for two big reasons: we know that we like it and because it is safe. If I am going to a restaurant and spend money, so goes the thinking, I do not want to waste my money! I want to be sure that I will like this. I can appreciate not wanting to waste money or time.

But let’s look at the other issue: safety. It is scary to try something new. Trying a new direction can get you lost. Or can get you a new view that you have never seen. Trying a new food may be something that you hate and spit out! Or something that you love and becomes your new favorite. A new vacation spot can be days and days of despising where you are. Or could be the opportunity to truly expand your world.

Yes, it is a risk, and not all risks pay off. However, the problem with not taking any risks is that your world can become very small. You may find that you have stopped smiling because you have become bored.

Life can be an adventure. Give yourself permission to try something new! Do it today!
